MOSES LAKE -- A Grant County woman in her 70s has tested positive for West Nile virus, becoming the only state resident believed infected in the state this year.
Last year, almost 40 people were reported as infected in Washington and a Yakima County resident died from the virus.
The Grant County woman likely was infected west of Moses Lake in an area where several positive mosquito samples were collected, according to the Grant County Health District.
The danger of West Nile virus for this year ended with the cold weather, officials say.
