Church plans conference for fatherless orphans

Thirty speakers will be participating in a Heart for the Fatherless Orphans Conference in the Tri-Cities today and Saturday at Calvary Chapel in Kennewick.

The free event will begin at 5:30 p.m. today featuring Jason Weber, an author and speaker, about answering the call to help orphans in the U.S. and around the world.

He is the founder of Hope for Orphans in Plano, Texas.

Tonight's program also will include an 8:30 p.m. performance by the Asante Children's Choir from Rwanda.

The conference, which features about 50 classes concerning all aspects of adoption, foster care and supporting orphans and orphanages, will go from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the church, 10611 W. Clearwater Ave., Kennewick.

Topics also will include how to raise financial support and plan mission trips to assist orphanages.

There will be free child care at the church and lunch will be available for $5.

A conference highlight will be the Saturday night concert featuring Christian contemporary band Rush of Fools. Tickets at $20 will be available, with a $2 discount if purchased online. This is the second year for the Heart for the Fatherless Orphans Conference at Calvary Chapel in Kennewick.
