West Richland residents will be able to see the new ambulance they approved in a special levy in April during today's Veterans Day parade.
The ambulance, which was built by Braun Northwest in Chehalis, has just arrived and still needs to be outfitted with equipment. It's expected to go into service near the first of the year, said volunteer firefighter John Schwarder.
Cost of the ambulance was about $120,000. A special tax levy that will collect $500,000 a year for six years is paying for it and other costs to begin the service.
"We just want our citizens to know that we're going ahead with the ambulance service and it will be here soon," Schwarder said.
The parade begins at 9:30 a.m. and follows West Van Giesen Street. About 100 entries are expected.
