The League of Women Voters of Benton and Franklin Counties will celebrate the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage in Washington with a rally at noon Monday in Richland.
Washington granted women the right to vote on Nov. 8, 1910, becoming the fifth state in the nation to do so.
But it wasn't the first time Washington women had been given the right, according to a League news release.
They previously had been granted voting rights but had their rights stripped away more than once.
The rally at the Richland Community Center, 500 Amon Drive, is intended to remind women how important their votes remain a century later.
