Tapteal needs helpers to improve Amon Basin

Tapteal Greenway Association needs volunteers for a work party to plant and clean up the preserve at Amon Basin Creek from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.

Volunteers will meet in south Richland at Center Boulevard and Eastwood Avenue. Park along Center or Eastwood and walk through the green metal gate, down the path to the restoration area.

Activities will include planting and weeding in the road bed, retrieving wire cages from dead trees, digging trenches for new plants, spraying for weeds and repairing barricades.

Sharp-tined rakes, sharp-nosed shovels, picks and wire cutters are needed. Volunteers should bring work gloves, water and snacks.

A portable toilet will be available.
