Truck driver cited after near-miss accident

The driver of a Ford Ranger truck was cited Friday afternoon for failing to yield after a lane change forced a motorcyclist off the road in Kennewick.

The truck was driving south on Columbia Center Drive between Willamette Avenue and Canal Drive at 4:15 p.m., when the driver moved the vehicle to the outside lane, in front of a motorcycle, police Officer Shirrell Veitenheimer said.

The motorcycle rider tried to stop the bike and slid into the grass on the side of the road. Police said his bike's handlebars clipped the truck's back end before leaving the road. No one was injured.
