Christmas assistance available for poor

Low-income Mid-Columbia residents can apply for assistance during Christmas from The Salvation Army, Tri-Cities Social Services.

Those eligible can sign up at Richland Social Services from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. Friday at 1219 Thayer Drive, or from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 1-5 at Pasco Social Services, 310 N. Fourth Ave.

To qualify for food and gifts (gifts for children 12 and under), residents must present a birth certificate for children, picture ID for all adults, proof of current address (current utility bill or rental agreement), proof of income (current check stub or AFDC printout) and proof of expense (rent or current bills).
