Richland High PTSA honors educator

Richland High School PTSA presented the 2010 Outstanding Educator Award to Mary Kaye Hergert.

Hergert was chosen for going beyond the normal expectations of her job to make the learning environment fun, beneficial and challenging.

RHS Librarian Claire Commeree described her on her nomination form as an "extremely creative, hard-working teacher with a wide-range of knowledge, academic interests, and abilities. With her strong academic foundation in business, career education, and leadership, Mrs. Hergert has developed one of the most successful school-to-work programs in the state. She willingly shares her classroom and time-management skills with new teachers, helping them design effective, efficient, and successful teaching assignments."

The RHS PTSA presented Hergert with a green and yellow mum and a state PTA pin and certificate. A donation has been made in her name to the state PTA scholarship fund.
