KENNEWICK -- Farmer's Exchange in Kennewick has donated $1,000 through Washington's Main Street Tax Credit program to help finance revitalization projects sponsored by the Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership.
Merrianne Door, president of the partnership, said donations not only support the ongoing revitalization effort, but also provide the donor business a 75 percent credit from the amount donated toward that business' business and occupation tax.
The business also can claim a portion of the donation as a federal tax deduction because the partnership is a qualified tax-exempt organization.
Washington's Main Street Tax Credit program allows eligible communities to receive up to $100,000 a year in donations.
