A 37-year-old Kennewick woman died Friday evening when the 1995 Chevrolet Suburban she was riding in was struck by another car on Highway 240 near the intersection with Highway 225 to Benton City.
Amy S. Varrelman died at the scene, the Washington State Patrol reported.
She was a passenger in the Suburban, which was headed west on the highway. It was struck by a 2010 Subaru Impreza driven by Ricardo L. Wilson, 21, of Kennewick, the state patrol said. Wilson was headed east and crossed the center line, the patrol said.
He was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, along with the Suburban's driver, Hunter T. Williams, 16, of Kennewick, and passengers Deyd G. Williams, 12, of Kennewick, and Kameron L. Owen, 23, of Sumner.

The state patrol said the cause of the wreck was improper passing.
