Jeep pulls across Highway 26, injuring 2

Two people were hurt early Monday morning when a driver was hit by a Jeep as he tried to pull across Highway 26.

Ricardo Aguilar Lopez, 37, of Othello, was headed north on First Avenue at 4:20 a.m. when he drove a 1996 Ford Windstar into the path of a 1999 Jeep Cherokee headed west on the highway, said the Washington State Patrol.

The Jeep then collided with a 1988 Chevy pickup stopped at a stop sign on First Avenue on the south side of the intersection.

The Jeep's driver, Crispin G. Hernandez, 46, of Othello, was taken to Othello hospital with shoulder and rib injuries.

Lopez suffered a knee injury. The pickup driver, Arturo G. Moldanado, 35, of Othello, was not hurt.

All were wearing seat belts, said the state patrol. Lopez was cited with failing to yield.
