Unemployment in the Tri-Cities jumped from 9.7 to 11 per cent for the week ending July 10. This is the highest that Ivah McDonnell, assistant manager of the Employment Security Department in Pasco, can remember the unemployment rate reaching locally. The state rate increased from 9.3 to 9.8 per cent during the same period.
