Mr. Toles, who has been in this country for forty or fifty years tells us that the first swarm of bees brought into the county was owned by a gentleman by the name of Davenport, living at that time in the Waldo hills in Oregon. This hive of bees could not be bought for love or money. Soon after this other hives were shipped from the south and were sold for $500 a hive.
