On this day, May 16, 1935

John Baxter, 75, of Kahlotus, was lost and found. He left the house to bring in the cows for milking. When it became late and he didn't return a posse was organized. More than 20 men searched for him all night and all day. When he was found he was not suffering any ill effects from the long hike nor from exposure though he was wearing only a light shirt and overalls.
