W.L. "Bill" Dimmick, first man to drive a combine in the northwest, was interviewed by the Herald in Yakima. He said "The first year (1892) that I ran the combine, (a 30-horse drawn implement) it seemed almost impossible to get any work done. Someone was always jumping on the machine to see how it worked."
