On this day: Feb. 19, 1904

Sandpoint, Idaho- Roy Murphy, a gambler, shot Bonita Carlson, a woman of the half world, three times in a vain attempt to kill her. Thinking he had succeeded, he turned the 38 caliber revolver on himself and blew himself to destruction. The cause of the tragedy was jealousy. Bonita Carlson was the only name by which the woman was known here.
