On this day: May 27, 1904

Marshall Sturdivan undertook to arrest W. C. Brummett who had been drinking heavily at Billie's & Reilley's saloon in Lind. Brummett fired at Sturdivan inflicting a flesh wound, chased another man into the street at the point of his gun and injured Jacob Koch, a farmer. Mayor Dirstine closed all the saloons due to threatening by persons on the street who had taken sides to the affair.
