Duckcams are back this spring along the Yakima River near West Richland and the Snake River near Burbank.
They are trained on nesting boxes being used not only by wood duck hens but also a western screech owl sitting on four eggs.
Dale Schielke of the Richland Rod and Gun Club has several streaming channels on the internet showing the interior of different nest boxes.
The wood duck hens are sitting on as many as 18 eggs each.
The duck eggs should start hatching in early May. Wood ducklings leave their nests within 24 hours, jumping to the ground below with the hen's encouragement.
The owl should raise her owlets in the nesting box.
The Richland Rod and Bun Club maintains 450 nest boxes, some made by local school children.
