About a dozen homes north of Waitsburg were threatened by a wildfire that spread to 1,300 acres by Saturday afternoon.
The fire burned wheat fields and grass in Walla Walla and Columbia counties, according to the Southeast Washington Interagency Incident Management Team, which was monitoring the fire.
Residents on Weller Canyon Road in Walla Walla County were ordered to evacuate Saturday, but the order was lifted Saturday evening as the Wetstone Fire was controlled.
The Wildfire Strike Team from Benton and Franklin counties was asked to provide mutual aid, including an engine and water tender from Benton County Fire District 1.
