A new intensivist program has launched at Trios Southridge Hospital in Kennewick.
The critical care medicine program "is designed to improve patient outcomes and decrease medical complications, thereby shortening the length of hospital stays and reducing costs for the patient and hospital," a Trios news release said.
Through the program, intensivists Drs. Hassan Haddadin and Hani Murad will provide "24/7 coverage and undivided attention to the comprehensive evaluation and management of critically ill patients in the ICU," the release said.
They'll coordinate a multidisciplinary team.
ICUs that are managed by intensivists are proven by research to have lower mortality rates and improved outcomes, with shorter patient stays in the ICU and the hospital, the release said.
The Trios intensivist program has been in the works for five years, the release said.
