The Diagnostic Imaging Department at Kennewick General Hospital has upgraded its Philips Ingenuity 64 computed tomography scanner with new software that cuts down on radiation and improves image quality, a KGH news release said.
The new software is called iDose4.
“Working with children, we want to diagnose them quickly and safely so we can treat them effectively and minimize their discomfort with illness,” said Dr. Ivan Guevara, a KGH pediatrician, in the release. “It’s nice to know that if I need to order CT scan diagnostics for my patients, I have the best tool available right here. My young patients will be exposed to less radiation, which is important over a lifetime. Additionally, having better images allow our radiologist to do better diagnostic readings. This technology is a win-win.”
