The Washington State Department of Health has suspended the credential of a nurse after she failed to show up for drug screenings.
The Bellingham Herald reported Thursday that Jennifer Somawang had agreed to enter a drug monitoring program after she admitted to taking the opioid fentanyl from the Pacific Rim Outpatient Surgery Center.
According to department records, center staff reported seeing Somawang inject herself at the facility in Bellingham in July 2014.
Somawang signed a substance abuse referral contract with the Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission in October 2014, agreeing to random drug testing for five years.
The department says they indefinitely suspended her credentials last month after she violated her contract.
The department says Somawang failed to attend five screenings and withdrew from the monitoring program in November 2017.
