Eligible Columbia Basin farmers and ranchers can sign up for U.S. Department of Agriculture's disaster assistance programs restored by the 2014 Farm Bill.
Depending on the size and type of operation, eligible producers can enroll in one of the Farm Service Agency programs. Farmers can apply for the next three to nine months depending on the program and year of the loss.
Those who are eligible for the Livestock Forage Disaster Program and the Livestock Indemnity Program can receive payments for livestock deaths and grazing losses that have occurred since the expiration of the livestock disaster assistance programs in 2011. Sign-ups also are beginning for the Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees and Farm-Raised Fish Program and the Tree Assistance Program for orchards and nurseries.
For more information or to sign up, contact your local Farm Service Agency.
