Not all of us are able to fly to Maui and enjoy a cool treat sitting on the beach, but we can pretend. And soon you can head for one of the two Maui's Apple shops in Richland.
Owner Kevin Stevens of Richland opened the first of his frozen yogurt shops in January and by next weekend plans to open a second location at 127 W. Gage Blvd. by Bonefish Grill.
His first shop is at 1813 George Washington Way, next to Safeway in the Washington Plaza. The shops are decorated in bright citrus colors of orange and green.
"I opened the first shop on Jan. 7, and we've been doing really, really well there. The community has really given us a good reception," Stevens said.

Maui's Apple rotates flavors weekly. One always is without added sugar and another is dairy-free.
"We have a different product than other yogurt shops, and people seem to like our taste," he said.
Stevens will have about eight employees at each location. There's no website, but you can find Maui's Apple on Facebook.
Hours at both locations will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
