Tri-City SunMart stores sold to Canadian buyer

Couche-Tard, a Canadian convenience store operator with more than 5,800 stores, recently announced that it will buy the SunMart convenience stores in the Tri-City area.

The company, through its subsidiary Circle K Stores, signed an agreement to buy 27 stores in Eastern Washington from Sun Pacific Energy.

All but one of the 27 stores sell gas. Of those, 19 are Shell and seven are Exxon.

Couche-Tard expects these stores will bring an additional volume of more than 43 million gallons in motor fuel sales and almost $35 million in merchandise revenue each year.

The ownership change likely will occur in November. The purchase price is not being disclosed because of a confidentiality agreement between the parties, according to a news release.
