-- Bob Mackey has been named a full partner at Red Mountain Egg Family, a small family-run business in West Richland. Mackey is the son of owner Mike Mackey. The farm is a licensed operation that produces eggs from cage-free chickens.
-- Rep. Larry Haler, R-Richland, was given the Guardian of Small Business Award by the state branch of the National Federation of Independent Business. The organization lauded Haler's voting record in favor of policies supporting small businesses in the Legislature. "You understand the important of small business to our state's economy, and you are willing to fight to protect our free enterprise system," NFIB officials said in a letter.
-- Matt Hammer of Pasco-based Vivid Learning System was named the Executive of the Year by the Mid-Columbia Leadership Development Association. The association recognizes a senior executive for managerial and leadership accomplishments. Hammer is the co-founder of Imageworks, a creative firm focused on brand development. The company was purchased by Vivid Learning Systems in 2004. In 2009, Hammer was named CEO of both companies.
