The big, bold LED sign on the northwest corner of the HAPO Business Complex building in Kennewick is valued at about $850,000, according to the building permit issued by the city.
The sign has been attracting a lot of attention since last week when commercials and graphics began scrolling across it.
The sign is 20 feet by 35 feet on the Clearwater Avenue side and 20 feet by 12 feet on the Columbia Center Boulevard side. It is made of 1,000 LED strips, spaced about 13/4 inches from each other, allowing employees to see out windows.
HAPO will use the sign to promote its services and various summer events being sponsored by the credit union this year, including Live@Five, Cool Desert Nights and the River of Fire Fourth of July.
The value of the sign was not immediately available last week.
