Green chili season has arrived and the Pasco Albertsons store is celebrating the occasion with a Hatch chili roasting event today through Sunday.
Considered New Mexico's preeminent chili pepper, Hatch chilies are favored across the country in restaurants that serve spicy Southwestern cuisine.
Food connoisseurs add them to their salsas, sauces, casseroles, stir fries, enchiladas, souffls, omelets, tacos, rellenos, quesadillas and burritos or just about anything they want to heat up.
Hatch chilies are available at the Pasco store, 1330 N. 20th Ave., in 25-pound sacks for $35. Customers are limited to 10 sacks per person while supplies last.
You can have them roasted, free of charge, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today through Sunday.
