Auto carbon fiber plant to open in Moses Lake

The new SGL Automotive Carbon Fibers plant is opening Sept. 1 in Moses Lake.

BMW Group and SGL Group partnered in creating the plant, a $100 million investment.

The companies plan to manufacture ultra-lightweight, carbon fiber-reinforced plastics for use in vehicles. The plastics created at the Moses Lake plant are intended for BMW's Megacity vehicle.

The plant is located at 8781 Randolph Road N.E. in Moses Lake.

Gov. Chris Gregoire is scheduled to speak Sept. 1 at the plant's grand opening.
