FREDERICK, Md. -- Federal contractor Bechtel Corp. said it is considering moving its East Coast offices out of Frederick to another location in the Washington, D.C., area.
The Frederick News-Post reports that the San Francisco-based company told its 2,000 Frederick workers on Thursday that the leases on its Frederick offices are up for renewal.
A company spokeswoman told the newspaper Bechtel views the event as an opportunity to consider the advantages of Frederick and other locations in the Washington area.
Bechtel moved three divisions to Frederick from San Francisco in 2004.
Among Bechtel's projects is building the $12.2 billion vitrification plant at Hanford.
