Agency gets 2 awards for Hanford tank farm work

Washington River Protection Solutions has won two 2011 Communicator Awards for projects providing information on the Hanford tank farms, where radioactive waste is stored in underground tanks.

An Award of Distinction was given to Rob Roxburgh and John Britton for the video, The Road to Recovery: Hanford Tank Operations and the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act, which detailed the projects and progress made using $326 million in Recovery Act funds received by the Department of Energy contractor.

An Award of Distinction also was given to John Lawson and Britton for a full-page newspaper ad titled "The Future of Hanford is in Good Hands," which celebrated employees' contributions to the success of the tank farms project.

The two projects were selected for awards from a pool of more than 6,000 entries.
