Work required to switch the 1 megawatt TRIGA reactor at Washington State University Pullman to use a different type of fuel will be discussed Friday at WSU Tri-Cities.
The talk is part of a professional development series for nuclear-related engineering. It will be held at 12:10 p.m. in Room 256 at the West Building at 2710 University Drive, Richland.
The reactor was fueled with highly enriched uranium from 1976 to 2008, when the Department of Energy reclaimed that type of fuel from civilian reactors. It was converted then to use low enriched uranium.
