Horse clinics set today, Saturday in Othello

OTHELLO -- A series of free horse clinics and seminars are planned this evening and Saturday at Oakcrest Farm in the Othello area.

Among the presenters are Richard Vetter, a veterinarian who serves on the Washington State University Equine Health Advisory Board, and his wife Kathy. They offer classes and clinics for horse owners and veterinarians who want to improve their knowledge of dental care.

The program also will feature Mikki Kison, a certified practitioner of acupressure and homeopathic equine alternative therapies, according to organizers. And retired A-show judge Howard Yeager will conduct three clinics on halter showmanship, Western pleasure and trail performance.

Local horse owners also will offer their expertise on grooming and proper fit and safety considerations for Western and English tack.

The Adams County Sheriff's Posse will give a demonstration of search and rescue operations, and Adams County Horse Rescue will have a program on rescue.

The program starts at 5:30 p.m. today with live music by Claudio Peralto. Seminars resume at 8 a.m. Saturday.
