KENNEWICK -- Business is booming for the Windermere Real Estate/Tri-Cities office in Kennewick, said owner/broker Dave Retter.
In response, the real estate office is in the process of almost doubling its office space, building a 3,600-square-foot addition onto its existing, 7,500-square-foot office at 329 N. Kellogg St.
The building addition is valued around $150,000, Retter said.
"We've picked up some new developments, and some brokers would liketo join us," said Retter, who started Windermere Real Estate/Tri-Cities in 1993.
Fifty-five agents work there now. The added space will provide room for about another 12, Retter said.
Preliminary site work has begun and the business expects to break ground on the expansion in a couple of weeks.
The project will take about three months to complete, Retter said, but will not disrupt other work going on at the real estate office.
As part of the expansion, a basement will be added for storage, as well as a media room that will allow company employees to hold staff meetings on site.
Among new clients, agents at the real estate agency are helping develop 40 acres of new residential plats at 45th and Ely streets and 70 acres in West Kennewick, as well as commercial property and 300 acres of residential development in Southridge.
The real estate agency also has added staff to help with the recent surge of activity, bringing the total number of employees at the Kellogg Street office to 65, Retter said.
Whitney Maldonado, who has been a commercial real estate agent for the past 10 years, including the last five in Tri-Cities, recently joined Windermere Real Estate/Tri-Cities in its commercial real estate division.
Agents at the Kellogg Street office provide residential real estate services.
Another 10 employees offer commercial real estate services as well as commercial and residential property management services at a separate office at 419 N. Kellogg St.
