Farmers can apply for the Asparagus Revenue Market Loss Assistance Payment Program until April 8.
The program provides $15 million in payments to asparagus growers as compensation for losses that were the result of imports between the 2004 and 2007 crop years.
"With increased foreign competition and a difficult economy, this long overdue support couldn't come at a better time for these growers," Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., said in a statement. "I encourage all eligible growers to sign up for this program."
