Cold weather last spring has qualified Mid-Columbia counties for natural disaster assistance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Farmers in Benton, Franklin, Yakima, Walla Walla, Grant and surrounding counties were among 20 areas in the state to qualify because of rains, freezes and high winds that began April 1.
The loans will be available for eight months. Go to http://disaster.fsa.usda.gov.
