RICHLAND -- Medical and X-ray technicians at AdvanceMed Hanford in Richland voted Wednesday to unionize.
AdvanceMed is the Hanford nuclear reservation's occupational health provider.
The vote was six in favor, two against and one ballot challenged, announced the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1439.
It is a 7,000-member union based in Eastern Washington, Northern Idaho and Northeastern Oregon.

The union must wait 10 days for certification of the vote and then may begin bargaining.
Employees wanted a collective voice to negotiate contracts and iron out any issues, said Larry Hall, president of the local, in a statement.
