KENNEWICK -- Franki & Co, which has been on the top floor of the Crossroads Mall in Kennewick for 16 years, is on the move.
Every bobby pin, each shampoo bottle and even the salon chairs are moving across town to their new digs on Kennewick Avenue.
"We simply need more space," said salon owner Franki Anderson of Kennewick. "We're going from 1,900 square feet to 2,500 square feet and the way the space is laid out it seems even larger. It's amazing."
Anderson and the other 14 people who work at Franki & Co began packing their scissors, nail files and other supplies Monday. Anderson scheduled the moving van for 9 a.m. Friday and anticipates everything will be in place, "ready for business as usual when the salon opens at 7 a.m. on Monday."

Anderson said she's sorry to be leaving the Crossroads Mall.
"I've established the most amazing relationship with the Bob Tippett whose family has owned the Crossroads Mall building for forever," she said.
She'll also miss the sense of history you get from the building which was built in 1942 on the Hanford Reservation to serve as war offices. It was moved to its present location on Clearwater Avenue in 1978.
"It's one of Kennewick's national historic landmarks," she said. "It's got a lot of history and I've loved being a part of the history of the Tri-Cities."
"But I'm 44, at the peak of my career, and if I'm going to be doing this for another 10 or 15 years, I need to be at ground level for my loyal customers who are all aging with me," Anderson said.
The extra space at the new location won't go to waste either.
Anderson is adding another nail technician, another hairstylist and two services catering to cancer patients -- an area for hair replacement and wigs and a private room for women needing breast prosthetics.
Those two services grew out of Anderson's volunteer work at the Tri-Cities Cancer Center in Kennewick. Each Wednesday she visits the center to help women with their hair and to style the wigs.
"I became friends with Sandy Warner, who fits breast prosthetics at the center and she's going to work out of my salon too," Anderson said.
The new address for Franki & Co is 2417 W. Kennewick Ave., Suite A, next to Jiffy Car Wash in Kennewick. Hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Crossing Highway 395 actually puts the salon into a different phone number prefix but the phone lines are set up so that the original number, 783-1816, will simply forward to the new number, 585-2612.
"Both will work," Anderson said.
She's planning a grand re-opening sometime in the first two weeks of August.
