U.S. Cellular announced Thursday the launch of 3G mobile broadband in the Kennewick, Pasco, Richland and Yakima areas.
The network upgrade will bring DSL-like service and capabilities for customers through EVDO (Evolution-Data Optimized) technology, commonly referred to as 3G, which allows customers to access data on their cell phones 10 times faster than before and at no additional cost.
The difference is like going from dial-up to DSL on your desktop, U.S. Cellular says.
U.S. Cellular anticipates its entire network in Washington to have 3G coverage by the end of summer.
