Canyon's Edge to open tasting room in Kennewick

KENNEWICK — A Prosser winery is planning a new business in Kennewick that will cater to those who enjoy wine and good food — Canyon's Edge Tasting Room and Bistro at Southridge Village.

"We've leased two spaces and are planning a couple of different things besides another winery tasting room," said Brian Groth, managing owner of the winery.

In addition to a second tasting room, plans include a bistro restaurant serving a tapas menu plus a specialty foods area, most likely in the tasting room, that will be called Picnic Grocery.

"Everything is still unfolding," Groth said. "Opening dates will depend on our licensing, which is still pending, but it'll likely be in February."

The bistro space is about 95 percent completed but he's waiting on licensing before setting an opening date.

"The other space still needs walls and flooring and such. We're still bouncing around ideas on what to do with it," Groth said.

The new tasting room and bistro are at Southridge Village, 3617 Plaza Way, suites C and D, in Kennewick.

The winery won't be leaving Prosser, but it will relocate in the spring to The Wine Loft in the North Prosser Business Park at 357 Port Ave.

The winery also is offering a new wine club and their book club. Basic membership in the wine club is $60 and book club members can have the book being discussed sent with their wine shipment.

For information on joining, e-mail canyonsedgewinery@gmail.com or call the Prosser tasting room Thursday through Monday at 509-786-3032.

The present tasting room is at 10 Merlot Drive, off Interstate 82, exit 80 in Prosser.
