The Benton County Farm Service Agency office is seeking candidates for an upcoming farmer- and rancher-chosen County Committee election. Nominations for the Tri-Cities’ representative position will be accepted through Aug. 3.
FSA County Committee members supply the local voice of farmers and ranchers to the federal farm programs, bringing local knowledge of farming practices, prices and conditions to program implementation.
Committee members serve on staggered three-year terms so that a third of the seats are up for re-election each year. Members receive an hourly wage for their attendance and representation at County Committee meetings.
All interested agricultural producers are encouraged to seek nomination. Eligible candidates must participate or cooperate in the FSA program and be of legal voting age.
