YAKIMA -- Father Robert Spitzer, former president of Gonzaga University, will be the featured speaker at the Sept. 15 Central Washington Catholic Foundation dinner.
He'll discuss how science and faith are mutually complementary.
The dinner will be held in the Yakima Convention Center.
Spitzer is president of the Magis Center of Reason and Faith and the Spitzer Center for Ethical Leadership in Irvine, Calif.
Five Tri-Citians will be honored during the dinner with 2012 Francis Cardinal George Medallions for their contributions to the Diocese of Yakima and their individual parishes.
Those receiving the awards include: Larry Cleveland, Mike and Carol Gaulke and Shira Wise of Holy Spirit in Kennewick, and Michael Valentine of Christ the King in Richland.
Tickets are $100 per person, and proceeds will go to tuition assistance for new students at Catholic schools and to parish religious education programs in Central Washington.
