Mission trip to benefit local community

A local group will be on a church mission next week, but instead of traveling to another country, it will explore its own neighborhood for ways to serve.

Sixty volunteers from Kennewick's Lord of Life Lutheran Church "Mission Possible" team will help nonprofit agencies with hands-on tasks in the community.

The team and Lord of Life Lutheran Church invites the public to attend a panel presentation each night from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at 640 N. Columbia Center Blvd. in Kennewick. Panelists representing nonprofit organizations will discuss their mission, challenges and people served: June 23, Tri-Cities Food Banks and Ken & Theresa's Place; June 24, Grace Clinic and The ARC of Tri-Cities; June 25, Habitat for Humanity and Columbia Basin Veteran's Association; June 26, Fields of Grace, St. Vincent de Paul and Union Gospel Mission.

For more information or to sign up to work, call Lord of Life Lutheran Church assistant minister Heidi Cryer at 783-5222.
