Outdoors briefs: Native Plant Society to meet Wednesday

RICHLAND -- The Columbia Basin Chapter of the Native Plant Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Washington State University Library and Consolidated Information Center (WSU Library & CIC building), Room 120.

Steven Link will be the feature speaker.

He will talk about "Plant Identification Using the internet and Other Resources." Take any unknown native and invasive plants to the meeting and Link will try to identify it.

FFA having lawnmower maintenance, plant sale

FINLEY -- The Finley FFA Chapter is holding two fundraisers.

FFA is holding its annual plant sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 23-24 at the River View High School greenhouses.

All plants are grown by FFA members in the horticulture class.

In addition, Finley FFA and the River View High School agriculture mechanics classes are doing lawnmower maintenance as a fundraiser beginning April 5.

The cost for an oil change, new air filter and spark plug and blade sharpening for push mowers is $35 and $50 for riding mowers.

Garden club having plant sale April 24

KENNEWICK -- The Basin Bloomers Garden Club is holding a plant sale from 8 a.m. to noon April 24 at 2221 S. Rainier St., Kennewick.

Club members will be on site to help gardeners choose from their selection of sun and shade perennials, flowering shrubs, house plants and other interesting plants.
