Rose Society to offer talk on pesticides, insecticides

WEST RICHLAND -- Tri-City Rose Society members will meet at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Sandberg Event Center, 331 S. 41st Ave., West Richland.

Master rosarian Norma Boswell will discuss which pesticides and insecticides, both chemical and organic, are needed to keep Mid-Columbia roses healthy and beautiful.

She also will have handouts picturing common pests.

Learn about ornamental grasses by helping at Demonstration Garden

KENNEWICK -- The Washington State University Extension and Benton-Franklin Master Gardener Foundation will hold a free class on ornamental grasses March 12 in the Demonstration Garden at the Mid-Columbia Library, 1620 S. Union St., Kennewick.

Master Gardeners will be in the garden from 9 a.m. to noon cutting back the grasses to prepare for spring growth. This is the only opportunity this year to see and help cut back the grasses. Bring questions, gloves and pruning shears.

They will meet at the main gazebo.
