Koi and Pond Club to meet Tuesday

KENNEWICK -- The Mid-Columbia Koi and Pond Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Rod and Eileen Thorne, 4401 W. 14th Ave., Kennewick.

Orchid society to meet in Kennewick

KENNEWICK -- The South Central Washington Orchid Society will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 15 at Edison Elementary School, 201 S. Dawes, St., Kennewick.

Members will be bringing divisions of their plants to share and sell.

Master Gardener sale set for Sept. 19

KENNEWICK -- Washington State University Extension Master Gardener is holding a perennial plant sale Sept. 19.

The sale will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the WSU Extension office, 5600 W. Canal Drive., one block west of Edison Avenue, in Kennewick.

The Master Gardeners will have a wide variety of trees, shrubs, herbs, native plants, ground covers, grasses and shade-loving plants, garden phlox in various colors, salvia with its purple blooms, yellow coreopsis and more to choose from.

There also will be spring flowering bulbs which have been raised in a Prosser garden. They will be packaged according to bloom time allowing gardeners to plan for a long spring show.

Master Gardeners will be on hand to give gardening advice and offer suggestions for picking the right plant for the right location.
