Mid-Columbia Earth Month calendar

Here are some of highlights of Earth Month in the Mid-Columbia:

-- Wednesday to April 30: Ink cartridge recycling at Cartridge World, 1360 N. Louisiana St., Kennewick, or 5025 Road 68, Pasco. Drop off your used toner or ink cartridges and receive a $3 to $10 coupon toward the purchase of a recycled cartridge. All proceeds will benefit the SEEnetwork.

-- Wednesday to April 30: Drop off unneeded cell phones at Mid-Columbia libraries for recycling.

-- Wednesday: Alternative Energy User Group Meeting, 7 to 9 p.m., at Oasis School, 1280 Lee Blvd., Richland. For more information call 942-4328.

-- April 6-12: Richland Neighborhood cleanup week, containers at the George Prout Pool parking lot.

-- April 11: Duportail trail and boat launch cleanup at 9 a.m. Bring gloves and water. For more information, go to www.tapteal.org.

-- April 13, 20 and 27: Recycle greeting cards, 9 to 11 a.m., Richland Community Center meeting room.

-- April 13-19: Richland Neighborhood cleanup week, containers at Snyder Street and Harris Avenue.

-- April 14: Wiggle worm story time, learn about and hold red wigglers, 10 a.m., Richland Library.

-- April 17: This is the last day to turn in aluminum cans to benefit Mid-Columbia schools.

-- April 18: West Richland Cleanup at Enterprise Middle School, 5200 Paradise Way, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wood for chipping, household hazardous waste and TV and computers will be accepted but only from West Richland residents.

-- April 18: Amon Park Restoration, meet at Claybell Park at 9 a.m. For more information go to www.tapteal.org.

-- April 18: Master Gardener Demonstration Garden Cleanup, 1620 S. Union St., Kennewick; meet at 9 a.m. For more information call 735-3551.

-- April 18: Restore-a-Park, all day at McMurray Park, Richland. Help Oasis School continue its efforts to clean up McMurray Park in Richland and turn it into a native plant demonstration garden.

-- April 24: A tree selection, planting and care seminar, 2 to 3 p.m., at Richland Community Center. For more information, call 942-7429.

-- April 25: Spring Plant Sale, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Master Gardener Demonstration Garden, 1620 Union St., Kennewick.

-- April 29: Public tree planting at 9:30 a.m. in Leslie Groves Park in Richland to celebrate Arbor Day.

Beyond Earth Month

-- May 2: Composting Workshop, 1620 S. Union St., 9:30 a.m. to noon. Call 942-7730 to register.

-- May 13: Kennewick Community Education Home Energy Efficiency class from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Southridge High School, Room B120. Cost is $15. For more information, call 222-5080.
