Curious about ornamental grasses? Enjoy tabletop water gardens but want to make your own? Planning your next vegetable and herb garden?
All these topics will be covered in a series of free classes this month at Job's Nursery, a retail nursery outside Pasco. Plus you'll have the chance to chat with the nursery owners, Kathy and Duane Job and their sons, Alex and Arthur.
At 2 p.m. today Cindy Mason, a Washington State University Master Gardener, will talk about ornamental grasses. She'll discuss their care, planting and the different varieties which can add interest and color to the landscape.
Later, at 3 p.m., Carmen Stafford, a member of the Mid-Columbia Koi & Pond Club will do a demonstration on how to make indoor container water gardens. The one she'll assemble will have an Asian theme and be small enough to put on a living room table. After the class Stafford will give away the container garden used for the demonstration.
Other Koi & Pond members will also be on hand to answer questions and pass out information on fish, ponds and water plants. Be sure to bring any questions you have on building outdoor ponds and water features.
On Oct. 25 at 2 p.m., Kathy Hansen of Hansen Herbs will teach some of her techniques on how to have a crop to enjoy throughout the growing season. She'll also discuss how to make it easier to grow and enjoy your veggies.
