GreenTip: Make less waste on vacation

’Tis the season for vacations and there are several steps you can take to reduce waste and save energy while you’re on the road.

Follow these suggestions from the Environmental Protection Agency:

-- Before you leave home, adjust air conditioning and water heater thermostats to conserve energy.

-- Fill small reusable containers with shampoo and soap rather than buying travel-sized toiletries.

-- On your trip, take only the amount of product — napkins, condiment packets, brochures, etc. — you will use.

-- Switch off air conditioning, lights and the television when you leave your hotel room.

-- When visiting beaches and parks, take out everything you bring in to leave places unlittered and undisturbed.
