Dachshunds can be sassy and expressive little dogs who aren't afraid of taking what they want. They really are huge dogs in tiny bodies, and Wednesday is no exception! She's a confident little pup who knows that her mom, @lexis__cortez, is wrapped around her paw, and she knows exactly how to take advantage of it.

In a now-viral funny animal video, a pair of dog and tortoise siblings argue over food, just like brothers and sisters do. While the innocent tortoise tried to enjoy his lettuce snack as quickly as possible, Wednesday the Dachshund dog was having none of it! She wasted no time stealing lettuce from the slower sibling, and she wasn't even sorry when Mom stepped in to correct her.

The audacity is both impressive and appalling! Wednesday unlocked maximum overdrive as soon as she saw her shelled friend had food, and the tortoise was not happy about it. Reptiles may not have eyebrows and other expressive facial features like mammals do, but anyone can tell just how mad he was.

"'It's like taking lettuce from a tortoise' is a famous dog expression," commenter @chairman.meow0 explained. Well, it certainly is now! No lettuce will ever be safe around Wednesday ever again, even if it normally has no place in this sausage dog's food bowl.

Pet parents from all backgrounds could relate to this greedy pup and her thievery. It's just as @daddydahye said, "You know that dog doesn't eat any lettuce." Maybe not normally, but she won't sit around and let someone else eat something she doesn't have!

Luckily, Lex acted quickly to enforce justice for her pet tortoise. They got almost all of their lettuce back, but not before Wednesday raced to scarf down as much of one leaf as she could. At least she didn't make much of a dent!

Dog and Tortoise Siblings

At a glance, tortoises and dogs don't seem to have much in common, but they enjoy many of the same snacks and activities in their day-to-day life. Whether they're basking in the sun, digging in the dirt, or seeking out their favorite person, these animals are all about living in the moment.

Fortunately, many dogs and tortoises get along well, too. Turtles and tortoises don't move fast enough to trigger most dogs' prey drive, and their shells provide ample protection against excited paws. They really get the best of both worlds!

As adorable as interspecies animal friendships may be, every relationship is bound to have its bumps in the road. In Wednesday's case, it's her lettuce theft that's getting in the way of a beautiful, trustworthy friendship.
